Efficient carbon capture plant

Portulacaria afra is a succulent native to South Africa and has over the millennia provided food and moisture for elephants and the antelope. It is very resilient to a variety weather conditions and propagates naturally from broken pieces of plant that fall to the ground. This plant has recently attracted much interest internationally because it has an enormous appetite for carbon diaoxide. Unlike most plants which capture carbon dioxide only during sunlight hours, Portulacaria is also able, under conditions of moisture stress, capture carbon dioxide at night. The high moisture content of the plant makes it fire resistant (it will not easily burn) so it could be useful in the dual role of a fire break plant and as a carbon dioxide sink.
